Animals of the Dominican Republic
There are not a lot of wild land animals, but cattle and goats, introduced by the early Spanish settlers, still run free in some areas. Alligators are found in the mouths of some rivers. Other common animals of the Dominican Republic include: American cockroaches, American house spiders, American spider beetles and apple murexes. There are also bluefish, blue-gray gnatcatchers, bluefin tunas, boa constrictors, king mackerels, large flower corals, laughing gulls, and long eared owls.
