The Atlantic Ocean surrounds the northern part of the island, Puerto Rico is located to the east, the Caribbean Sea is situated on the southern part of the island while Haiti lies to the west.

Currency - The official currency is the Peso. The dollar exchange rate varies according to the rate set by the country's Central Bank. All local banks post the daily exchange rate on their bulletin boards. Most major credit cards are accepted in most local commercial establishments.
Driving - Driving is done on the right-hand side of the road. A valid driver's license can be used in the Dominican Republic.
